Osteoporosis Treatment

Fragile bones and fracture risk.

Understanding Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is reduced bone strength that increases fracture risk, often without symptoms until a fracture occurs.

How Crest May Support You

Homeopathic care may support general wellbeing but does not replace bone-density assessment, prescribed treatment, nutritional review or fracture prevention. Sudden severe pain after a minor injury requires medical assessment.

Medical Notice: Homeopathic care at Crest Natural Health Centre complements but does not replace emergency, hospital or specialist treatment. Patients should continue prescribed medicines unless their qualified medical practitioner advises otherwise.

Common Symptoms

Often no symptoms until a bone breaks
Fractures from only a minor fall or knock
Gradual loss of height
A stooped or forward-bending posture
Lower back pain
Shortness of breath if the spine is affected

Causes & Triggers

Bone is constantly renewed, but after about the age of 35 the body replaces it more slowly than it loses it, so bones gradually thin.
The risk is highest in women after the menopause, and rises with age and a naturally slim frame.
Too little calcium or vitamin D, and too little weight-bearing exercise, weaken the bones further.
Smoking and heavy drinking also speed up bone loss.

Risks of Delaying Care

The main danger is fractures (most often of the hip, wrist, and spine) from only a minor fall.
Crushed (compression) fractures of the spine cause height loss and a stooped posture.
Hip fractures in particular can seriously affect independence and mobility.

How We Diagnose It

Fracture-risk review
Bone-density testing where available
Calcium and vitamin D assessment
Medical evaluation
