Prostate Enlargement (BPH) Treatment

Weak stream, night-time urination and incomplete emptying: the most common prostate concern with age.

Understanding Prostate Enlargement (BPH)

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate, a small gland that sits beneath the bladder with the urethra running through its centre. As the gland enlarges it presses on the urethra and restricts the flow of urine. It becomes more common with age, commonly beginning to affect men from around the age of 45.

At Crest Natural Health Centre, BPH is one of our principal care areas.

How Crest May Support You

For symptoms such as nocturia, urgency, weak flow and incomplete emptying, the remedy is selected from the patient's characteristic symptom totality rather than the diagnosis alone. Progress is monitored, while prescribed medicines and urological care continue where necessary.

Medical Notice: Homeopathic care at Crest Natural Health Centre complements but does not replace emergency, hospital or specialist treatment. Patients should continue prescribed medicines unless their qualified medical practitioner advises otherwise.

Common Symptoms

Difficulty starting urination, or straining to go
A weak or interrupted stream that starts and stops
Urgency and frequent urination
Getting up to urinate at night (nocturia)
Dribbling at the end of urination
A feeling that the bladder has not emptied fully

Causes & Triggers

Age is the single biggest factor. The likelihood climbs steadily from around 45 onwards.
Shifts in the balance of sex hormones with age are believed to drive the prostate's continued growth.
A family history of prostate problems raises the risk.
Long-term conditions such as diabetes and heart disease have been linked to a higher chance of BPH.
Carrying excess weight raises the risk, while staying physically active helps to lower it.

Risks of Delaying Care

Urinary tract infections, when the bladder never empties fully.
Bladder stones and gradual bladder damage from urine left sitting in the bladder.
Back-pressure that can reach and harm the kidneys over time.
Acute urinary retention: a sudden, complete inability to pass urine that needs emergency catheterisation.

How We Diagnose It

Symptom history, including an IPSS symptom score
Abdominal and genital examination
Digital rectal examination by a qualified clinician
Urinalysis and kidney-function tests
PSA blood test where appropriate
Urinary-flow testing, ultrasound and post-void residual urine

Treatments We Offer

Individualised Care for Enlarged Prostate

At Crest Natural Health Centre, we offer individualised Homeopathic care for men with an enlarged prostate (BPH). We consider your urinary symptoms, medical history and test results when selecting a remedy. Many men can manage BPH without surgery; we will recommend a urology assessment when symptoms or test results suggest that specialist treatment is needed.

When to Seek Help

Seek urgent care for an inability to urinate, fever with urinary symptoms, visible blood in the urine, severe lower abdominal pain or confusion.
